The Marquis Kitchen

Contemporary Kitchen

Early one September morning, light streamed into the Marquis kitchen. It poured through the large windows overlooking the countryside, illuminating the high white walls before settling on the countertops. Beneath the cathedral ceiling, air circulated freely. The eye was drawn upward, then instinctively back down to the central island.

The island is clad in Sensa Vancouver quartzite. It also bears a shade sometimes seen just before dawn, when daylight hesitates to break. It becomes clear that this is the heart of the home, the focal point around which everything is organized.

Across from it, a storage wall and the cooking area form a clean, linear composition. The layout is intuitive, and everything is within easy reach.

At the far end, a floor-to-ceiling bookcase spans the entire wall. A ladder several meters long rests on a brass rail, providing access to the upper shelves. Books line the wall, tightly arranged.

It’s then that you realize this kitchen doesn’t reveal itself all at once. It invites you to take the time to discover it.

The Kitchen Island

The Brazilian quartzite countertop reveals its natural veins. Irregular lines run across its surface, sometimes close together, sometimes more spaced apart, like the waves of the sea. The material tells its own story.

In the morning, the stone is cool to the touch. It retains the night’s coolness, especially in the early hours. The light changes its appearance throughout the day. The veins become somewhat visible depending on the sun’s angle.

A Colourful, Unique Kitchen

On the raspberry-hued cabinet doors, the brass handles stand out naturally. They catch the eye without overwhelming the space. Their honeyed tone contrasts with the depth of the burgundy and the softness of the muted pink.

To the touch, the brass feels dense. It carries the reassuring weight of objects made to last. You can already sense that it will evolve over time, gradually bearing the marks of use and developing a subtle patina.

A Hood That Blends into the Decor

The hood blends seamlessly into the architecture, disappearing like a shoreline at high tide. Standing before the oven, a large window opens onto the outdoors. Your gaze wanders to the trees and lingers on the sky. You cook facing the changing landscape, hands at work. The hood hides away to make room for this simple connection with the outside world.

Behind the Doors

Upon entering the kitchen, you notice that everything is tidy: no toaster or glasses left on the counter.

There is plenty of well-designed storage space. It conceals dishes, glasses, and small everyday tools. Just open a door, take what you need, and close it again. In an instant, the kitchen regains its minimalist and orderly appearance.

In this room, which opens onto a relaxation area, optimized storage makes all the difference. Nothing distracts the eye. The surface remains clear, ready to welcome guests, a meal, or a conversation.
